All Foundation Trainees in Severn use the e-portfolio.

The e-portfolio was initially designed by NHS Education Scotland (NES) as a means of collating assessments electronically rather than on paper. Version 2 has been developed as a result of feedback from users of the original version. Improvements in Version 2 include the introduction of a ticketing system for assessments and a facility to upload documents eg audits, research. It should also be easier to navigate for all users.

The benefits of an e-portfolio include availability of access for educational supervisors to their trainees' portfolio at all times. Thus enabling supervisors to review progress more readily, creating an opportunity to identify a trainee who may require additional support at an earlier stage.

Two Severn Foundation trainees, Jenna Powell and Richard James, have produced an excellent guide to the e-Portfolio.

The e-portfolio is a lifelong learning record which will doubtless undergo further developments.  Feedback can be directed to the Foundation School via Postgraduate Centre Managers.
